Enjoy a great tour on the reef with the crew, Turtle Eco Cruise - Ningaloo Experience
Marine turtles are recognised internationally as species of conservation concern.
Turtles of all sizes can be seen year round in the lagoonal waters of Coral Bay. The main types seen are the Green and Loggerhead Turtles. Every summer turtle numbers increase as they come into breed and lay eggs (November to March). Nests may contain up to 100 eggs laid over several days.
After being laid eggs take around 60 days to develop and hatch. The tiny turtles (hatchlings) dig their way up through the sand until finally free, they scuttle down to the ocean waves. Turtle Eco Cruise
It's a long arduous beginning to a life that may span 100 years.
It may take from 30 to 50 years before a turtle reaches maturity and can begin the life cycle again.
The Turtle Eco Cruise takes you through the shallow water of the turtle grounds to watch and learn about the turtles, their behaviour, habits and habitat. Other marine animals such as Sting Rays, Sharks, Dolphins and Manta Rays may also be sighted in this area.
Cruise through the turtle grounds and learn about…. TURTLES!!
Enjoy a casual afternoon boat tour that’s informative and fun. Discover some of the quirky habits and behaviour of turtles as you cruise through the turtle grounds.
Inside the protected reef shallows, sea grass beds provide food and shelter for the Green Turtles species, Chelonia mydas, the predominant type of turtle found in the area. While watching turtles you may also encounter other marine life such as Sting Rays, Dolphins, Manta Rays, Dugongs or Sharks, all adding to the excitement of the tour.
To complete the tour a fantastic outer reef coral site provides the perfect snorkelling opportunity to get amongst the coral and fish all around the boat and if you wish to bring an afternoon beverage you are more than welcome to. If you don’t snorkel that’s no problem either as you can sit back, relax and just watch….
